Do you love playing chess? Do you enjoy volunteering in your community? If you answered yes to both why not volunteer while playing chess? Here are some ideas we have that may work for your community while spreading the love of chess.
Start a Free Chess Club:
Beginning a free chess club in your community is a great way to give back while playing more chess. Many businesses will offer you a space to host your event for free to increase their patrons. For more tips check out this article: Start a Chess Club in your Community.
Reach out to your library:
Offer a chess program through your local library. Most have the space to host chess events and usually let you have the room for free if your program is open to the community.
Assisted Living/Senior Centers:
Set up a day to play chess at your local assisted living or senior center. This is a great volunteer activity in your community where many chess players would love to participate. Often residents or members do not receive many visitors, so a chance to play with the community would brighten their day.
Boys and Girls Club:
Reach out to your local Boys and Girls club to set up a chess day at their facility. You may offer to teach the basics to those who do not know how to play.
Community Centers/Parks and Recreation:
These programs are always looking for new ideas for the community. You could set up chess days where chess players come out to help a new player learn how to play.
